Josie Claire Meggs August 28, 2002 – June 13, 2025
Josie Claire Meggs, beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, and friend, passed away at the age of 22 on June 13, 2025. Though her time on earth was far too brief, Josie lived a life overflowing with purpose, passion, and love.
Born on August 28, 2002, Josie was the daughter of Jeff and Jamie Meggs and the sister to Jerod Meggs. From the start, Josie radiated joy and determination. Her smile could brighten any room, and her heart was always focused on helping others.
Josie was a proud Kosciusko Whippet—on and off the field. A gifted athlete, she was a standout softball player who helped lead the Kosciusko Whippets to a state championship. Her talent, drive, and team spirit carried her to Co-Lin, where she helped lead the Co-Lin Wolves to win a National Championship.
Beyond the softball field, Josie’s compassion for people and animals defined her. She had a tender heart for every creature and a dream of making a difference. She recently graduated with a degree in emergency medical care, pursuing her calling to help and heal others. While preparing for a full-time career in healthcare, she worked as a part-time office manager at Meggs Tire Service, serving her community and family with the same devotion she gave to everything she did.
Josie was deeply loved and admired for her loyalty, her fierce friendship, and her ability to make everyone feel seen and valued. In her journal, she wrote of her dreams and her faith—a testament to the hope and love that filled her life.
Josie is survived by her parents, Jeff and Jamie Meggs; her brother, Jerod Meggs; and her grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Jerry Meggs, Bill and Julie Roberts, aunt Amy (Denny) Terrell, uncle Josh (Christy) King, and aunt Jana (John Paul) Alford. She is also lovingly remembered by her cousins: Austin and Avery Terrell; Jonas, Cole, and Addalyn King, and Sawyer, Winnie, Mobley, and Birdie Alford.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Jimmy King.
Josie Claire Meggs will forever be remembered for her light, her laughter, and her love. Though her earthly journey was short, her impact will be eternal.
