Steve Gaylon Ware, 78, of Thomastown, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Mississippi Baptist Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 20, 2025, at Thomstown Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 20, 2025, at Thomastown Baptist Church with burial at Wake Forest Cemetery. Rev. Waygon Sanders and Jimmy Williamson will officiate the services.
Steve was born on June 17, 1947, in Thomastown, Mississippi, to John Henry Ware and Gustia Ivy. He was self-employed in farm and road construction and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was married to his wife, Barbara, for 53 years. Initially, became a foster parent for a large number of children. Steve was a member of Thomastown Baptist Church.
Steve is survived by his wife, Barbara Biggart Ware; sons, John Alex (Gina) Ware and Nathan Lance (Robyn) Ware; and grandchildren, Timothy Hathcock, Daniel Ware, Lindsey Ware, Katelyn Ware, Reagan Ware, and Lacey Ware.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Ware and Gustia Ivy Ware, sister, Margaret Ann McClure, brother, Lamar Ware, four nephews, and two nieces.
Pallbearers include Daniel Ware, Teddy Harkins, Charley Lang, Matt Lang, Jett “Bubba” Biggart, and Dusty Harris.
