Jospeh J Parsler Sr

Joseph John Parsler, Sr. passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025. Joe was preceded in death by his wonderful parents, Frances and John Parsler, his adored wife Bernice "Cookie", his sisters Maryann and Dorothy "Dot" and brother in laws Ray and Ed. Joe grew up in Keasbey and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Perth Amboy, NJ in 1949. In 1954, after serving his country as Technical Sergeant in the Korean War he married his high school sweet heart Bernice who he spent 64 deeply loved years with. Bernice and Joe moved to Sayreville where they proudly raised four children, whom they are survived by - Joseph Jr., John (Bernadette), Mary Ellen (Brian) and Ann (Mark). Joe worked as Assistant Controller at Amerada HESS for 34 years. After 41 years, Joe and Bernice moved to Toms River to spend their retirement. Here Joe was one of the founding members of the golf league and continued to play up through last season at 92 years old. He could always be found playing either softball, bowling, cards or golf with his neighbors and friends. Joe is survived by his 10 grandchildren, John (Toni), Vincent, Jessica, Michael (Alison), Samantha, Brigitte (Dan), Mary Ann (Andrew), Meghan (Matthew), Joseph III and Eric. Joe was also lucky enough to have 8 great-grandchildren, Thomas, Malena, Evan, Cara, Hadley, Oakley, Daisy and Rose. Joe was always the "hostess with the mostess" and life of the party, making sure everyone had a drink in their hand and always felt welcome. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. Visitation is Sunday 1-4 at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Rd, Manchester. Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday 10AM at St Luke's Church, Toms River with entombment to follow at St Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
