Journey Cezzane Newland, age 36, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 12, 2025. He was born on May 25, 1989, in Delaware, Ohio, and graduated from Delaware Hayes High School in 2007.

Journey was a devoted father, and his son, Easton, was his greatest pride. Nothing made him happier than sharing moments with Easton, and his love for his son was unwavering. Above all else, Journey will be remembered as a loving, dedicated father whose spirit will live on in the heart of his child.

Journey was a man of warmth, humor, and boundless generosity, with a heart full of kindness. He had an infectious sense of humor and was the life of every gathering, always quick with a joke and a smile. His easygoing nature and lighthearted spirit made him a beloved presence to all who knew him.

Journey was passionate about his physical health, and enjoyed spending time in the gym. His love for the outdoors was equally strong-he found peace in fishing, hiking, and spending time at the beach, especially with his son. The ocean was a place where he felt truly at home, and those moments by the water brought him immense joy. A true people person, he was a gifted car salesman who took great pride in his work, combining his passion for cars with his love for connecting with others. He excelled in his career, consistently ranking among the top in his field, relying on his natural charm and charisma to build meaningful relationships with everyone he met.

A lifelong lover of stories, Journey was an avid reader who especially cherished the magical world of Harry Potter. His passion for films was matched only by his deep appreciation for music. The lyrics of Chase Rice, in particular, resonated with him, echoing both his personal struggles and triumphs. Journey also had a strong connection to his faith, and one of his favorite Bible verses was Psalm 23. The words of this passage deeply reflected the way he lived his life, finding strength, peace, and guidance through faith.

"And just when I think I'm too far gone

A ringing in my head's the 23rd Psalm

I've seen the light, I've seen the darkness

Only God knows where my heart is

I've got my strength, and Lord knows I've got my weaknesses"

Those left to cherish his memory included his son, Easton, mother and step-father Tasha (Gary) Shaw, father Mark Newland; siblings: Megan (Breck) Williamson, Nathan (April) Shaw, Holly (Nathan) Felton, Gunner Newland, all of Delaware, maternal grandmother Brenda Dunn, of Nancy, Kentucky, many treasured aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and the mother of his son, Carsen Floyd.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Wanda Newland, Donald Dunn, and Zita Keller.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, September 19th at the Delaware Christian Church, 2280 W William St, Delaware, OH 43015, with Pastor Sam Rosa officiating. Visitation hours will be held from 3:00-5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 PM.

In lieu of memorial contributions, donations can be made to the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Dr., Delaware, Ohio 43015 to help with final expenses.
