Joy Ray Edzards

Joy Ray (Morris) Edzards was born on July 30, 1929, to Ray Morris and Gladys Maurine (Gooch) Morris. She passed from this life on May 28, 2022, in Norman, Oklahoma, at the age of 92.
Joy has been a resident of Lindsay, Oklahoma, all of her life. Joy married the love of her life, Tex Edzards, at the First Christian Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma, on June 12, 1949. They celebrated 61 years of marriage before his passing in August of 2010.
Joy was a member of the First Christian Church of Lindsay, Oklahoma, for over 80 years. She was a teacher and school counselor for the Lindsay Elementary School until her retirement. Joy was a member of the Lindsay Bridge Club. She was an avid, vigorous Sooner basketball and football fan. She loved to fish and travel. Joy was an excellent cook until she decided it was "payback time". Above all else Joy loved being 'Mimi' to her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish Joy's memory are her sons, Larry and wife Jerrie Edzards of Norman, Oklahoma, Dean and wife Tamie Edzards of Dallas, Texas, and Jay and wife Toni Edzards of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, her grandchildren, Jeff Edzards, Lauren Edzards, Kali Murphy, Morgan Edzards, Abby Wadley, Jake Edzards, Cameron Austin, and Alex White, and her great grandchildren, Olivia, Mila, Katie, Maverick, Rebel, and Maddie.
Joy is preceded in death by her husband, Tex Edzards, and her parents, Ray and Gladys Morris.
A funeral service to honor the life of Joy is set to begin at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at the First Christian Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma, with Dennis Yates officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma, following the service.
In lieu of plants, the family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the First Christian Church of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
Family will be present at the viewing on Thursday, June 2, from 4 PM to 6PM for friends to offer condolences.
