Karen Joy Huffstetler Goforth, 68, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025. She was born in Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Grimel "Skip" Huffstetler and Elvira "Ducky" Bass Huffstetler.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. The best that anyone could have asked for! She adored her family and spending time with them. When she wasn't planning life around her grandchildren, she was planning it around watching Atlanta Braves games or purchasing shoes and/or pocketbooks. Holidays were special to her and she enjoyed decorating for them and giving/receiving presents (even when it wasn't a holiday!). Trips to the beach were a favorite pastime as was enjoying the music of Ivan Parker. A devout Christian, she enjoyed reading the Bible and loved the Lord with all of her heart.
Mrs. Goforth is survived by her husband, Danny E. Goforth; her children, Marc Humphries (Lisa), Brett Goforth (Jody), and Jenny Hickerson ("Big" Vinny); her grandchildren, Bryar Humphries, Raelyn Humphries, Vinny Myers Humphries, Saylor Goforth, Jagger Hickerson, and Harley Hickerson; her sister, Carol Farrar (Ronnie); and her nieces.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Goforth will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Gaston County Animal Care & Enforcement, 1491 Business Park Ct, Gastonia, NC 28052-1778. Condolence messages may be sent to the family by visiting www.woodlawnfuneral.org. Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is caring for Mrs. Goforth's family.
