Joy was my first cousin. We shared a love of teaching, genealogy and traveling. I remember spending time watching the eclipse at Lebanon State Park. Also that same week we went to many cemeteries looking at graves of our ancestors on the Blanton side. She was a sweet and caring person and will be missed by all.

Class of 1969. My favorite teacher and loved working with her on the our class annual. I think she was so young at that time we were so comfortable with her, she was as much a friend as teacher. Prayers and hugs for all the family.

Joy was a truly wonderful teacher and an inspiration. I will never forget the beautiful letter of recommendation she wrote for me for college. It was so eloquent and thoughtful...just like her.

Joy was an exceptional & inspiring teacher as well as a "home grown" hero, being a member of one of the founding families of Antioch, the granddaughter of Mrs. Grace Cole, for whom Cole Elementary School is named, & an Antioch historian. She introduced me, a most parochial teenager, to worldly thoughts & possibilities. I shall remember her standing in the front of the classroom reading a Shakespeare quote..."We are such stuff as dreams are made on..."

Mrs. Middleton was a beloved teacher and friend. She was able to attend our class reunion in 2017 and enjoyed seeing some of her Antioch students again. Later I had the chance to sit and talk with her about her many trips to England in which she recalled so many wonderful details from those experiences. We will greatly miss her.
