Tucumcari, New Mexico but grew up in Roswell. She attended Roswell High School where she graduated in 1976. She then went on to get her bachelor's degree in accounting from Eastern New Mexico University in
Portales, NM. She married her love, James Samuel Pearce on October 5th,1991 in Ruidoso NM and they enjoyed 32 beautiful years of marriage. Ruidoso was one of her favorite places to visit as she loved the view of the mountains and the fresh mountain air. Prior to retirement, Joy worked as the Workforce Specialist at Mission Arch Care Center for over 10 years where she made lasting impressions on her coworkers as well as the residents. She was such a good listener and problem solver so many of her coworkers would go to her for advice on work-related issues as well as life issues and she was always willing to listen and help as best she could.
Joy's number one priority was always her family and she always made it a point to celebrate each family members birthday and any holiday gatherings with a large celebration at her home that always included lots of food and laughter. She was many of her family members "best friend" because she was such a beautiful and loyal soul. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she always looked forward to spending time with them on the weekends, playing in the backyard with them or taking them on walks down to the pond by her house. Shopping was also one of her favorite past times and she enjoyed going shopping with her daughters and her sisters.
She was always willing to take in any animal or human in need. Her love was infectious and was something that everyone wanted to be around and to feel comforted by. She left a lasting impression on so many, and her memory will be carried in the hearts of all who loved her.
