Joy Suzanne Travis
Joy Travis of Leesville, LA went to be with the Lord on September 18, 2024, at the age of 74. Joy was born on August 22, 1950, in Independence, LA to Harvey and Lillian Johnson. She was a devoted christian, mother, grandmother, wife, and friend to many. Joy was so loved, and we are all the better for having the privilege to have her in our lives.
Joy was known for her beautiful yard and always referred to her yard work as fun and enjoyable. She took such pride in making her lawn shine. She also was a very talented painter and especially loved to create portraits of her little dachshunds, Jasper and Daisy Mae, and cat Beckie Lou. Joy loved her church family at Castor Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 30 years. She enjoyed going shrimping with her husband and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Joy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Wilbur, son, Jeremy Travis (Sarah), of Lawton, OK; two daughters, Heather Vincent (Stephen) of Cameron, LA, and Jessica Bumann (Gregory) of Council Bluffs, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Olivia, Josh, Thomas, Nicholas, Noah, and Kaitlyn; two sisters, Carolyn Pratt, of Baton Rouge and Beverly Rohrbacker of Roseland, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joy was preceded in death by both parents, brothers, Ronald Joe Johnson, Zane Johnson, John Johnson, and two sisters, Jill Seals and Janice Johnson.
There will be a memorial service/celebration of life for Joy at a later date by the family.
