Joy Gwyne Wright, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 11, 2024, in West Valley City, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 12, 1943, in Salt Lake City to Dorothy Black and Ruben Ames, she married William Wright Sr. on November 1, 1961, in Salt Lake City. Together, they resided and raised their family in Chesterfield, Utah.
A hard-working woman, Joy owned and operated Joy's Lemontree Cafeteria at Esystems in Salt Lake City for many years. She enjoyed quiet days at home and cherished her time having coffee at Ogie's Café.
Joy is survived by her brother Lee Ames and sister Leona Ryder as well as her six children: William Wright Jr., Bonnie (Rob) Hill, Betty (Thomas) Woodruff, Benny Wright, Blaine Wright, and Brenda Wright (Kenneth Erwin) all of West Valley City, as well as Randy Andrews (adopted son) of West Valley City. Her legacy continues through her 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Wright Sr., her grandson, William Mathew Palmer, and many dear brothers, sisters, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 6PM at the LDS Church located at 1165 West 2320 South in West Valley City. Light refreshments will be served following the service.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who prayed for us and offered their condolences.
