Luis Alberto Miranda, 76, of Salt Lake City passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025. He was born to Cristina Miranda and Abraham Uribe on August 25, 1948 in Cayurruca, Chile. Luis grew up on a large farm amongst fruit trees, horses, cattle, and animals. The child of an indentured servant, he witnessed many injustices which later in life led him to fight for civil rights causes in Chile and abroad. Luis went to live in the capital city of Santiago, Chile where he met and married Hilda Iturriaga and had three children; Giannini, Luis Michel, and Nicole. Luis became a political refugee in 1976 when his life in the United States began. A true patriot of Chile, Luis remained a Chilean citizen, never repatriating. Luis loved his work in flooring, meeting countless people from folks of humble means to celebrities, artists, and famous musicians. Luis made friends everywhere he went with his infectious smile, laugh, and uncanny ability to joke with everyone. He loved food and found any opportunity to share a meal or a drink with those around him. His true pride and joy however came from his family. He was most happy spending time with his children and grandchildren. Luis is preceded in death by his sister Julia and brother Erwin. He is survived by his son, Luis Michel Miranda and daughters, Giannini Cristina Miranda and Nicole Linda Miranda, grandchildren Tatiana, Selene (Romero), German (Romero), Duy, Karina, Victor, Roman (Ellis), and Esmé (Ellis). Celebration of Life details below: Sunday, August 24, 2025 Waterford School 1480 E 9400 S Sandy, UT 84093 Outdoor Plaza 11:00AM - 1:00PM Please come dressed to celebrate his life.
