Joyce Lynn Berman

Joyce Lynn Berman was born February 5th, 1936, in Chicago to her lucky parents Milton and Mamie Panitch. She attended Senn High School, Purdue University, Chicago Teacher's College and taught at various Chicago grade schools.

She met her husband Marvin as next-door neighbors when they were 16 and in 1958, created a marriage that lasted 67 years, over the objection of her mother who thought his eyes were too small. At one point they considered divorce, but neither of them wanted the kids. Joyce supported Marvin during his dental school years and together they raised four children – Lauren, Paul, Karen and Andy. And over the years were blessed with eight grandchildren – Noah, Naomi, Jonah, Talia, Rachel, Sophie, Eli and Edith. And the gift of one great-grandchild, Margo.

Joyce's versatile attributes included great bowler, Latin dance teacher, model for Maidenform bras, avid reader, and adept bridge player. She never missed Judge Judy and was a devoted fan of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Most of all, she found joy in listening to Marvin play the piano-a soundtrack to their life together that lasted more than 72 years. Joyce was happiest in life's simple moments and had a rare gift for making instant friends with strangers wherever she went and you could always trust her to give you her honest opinion, like it or not.

Joyce Berman (February 5th,1936- December 27th, 2025) She is survived by Marvin Berman (husband) Children: Lauren Berman, Paul Berman, Karen Berman, Andy (Marika) Berman. Grandchildren: Noah (Caity) Rawitz, Naomi Rawitz, Jonah Rawitz, Talia Rawitz, Rachel Lieberman, Sophie Lieberman, Eli Lieberman, Edith Berman. Great-grandchild: Margo Rawitz. Siblings: Alvin Panitch, Nancy Panitch, Richard (Decima) Panitch and the late Robert Panitch.
