Joyce A. (Agan) Blakley, 92, of Windsor Locks, CT, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on October 3, 2024.
She was born on July 3, 1932 in Ferrisburgh, VT to Lucius and Marie (Eagan) Agan. Joyce married the love of her life, Marlin Blakley on November 12, 1955. They raised their family in Windsor Locks. She was an avid fan of New England Patriots football, UConn women's and Connecticut Sun basketball. She played basketball for Mansfield (MA) high and softball in the Hartford Insurance women's league. She enjoyed summers in VT at their cottage on Lake Champlain and winters in Florida. Family and her traditions were very important to her and she always looked forward to the family reunions. She got a lot of enjoyment when spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren loved her banana smoothies and tuna sandwiches. Her great-grandchildren enjoyed her candy dish. We all eagerly anticipated her seafood bisque at Christmas - it was one of a kind.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Marlin Blakley, children: Lynne Dowd and her husband Kevin, Lisa Blakley, Thomas Blakley, Maureen Walters and her husband Kevin; grandchildren, Sean Dowd, Zachary Brookman and his wife Leanne, Sarah Dowd, Kyle Walters; great-grandchildren, Harper, Sadie, Reese, Harlow; brother, George Agan and his wife Gail; sisters, Jacqueline Ribaudo, Kay Ballard and her husband Tim; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Janet Chace and Joan Hebert.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 S. Elm St., Windsor Locks (Please meet directly at church). Burial will take place immediately after in Grove Cemetery, 21 S. Main St., Windsor Locks. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Windsor Locks Lions Ambulance Fund, PO Box 105, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
