Nashville, NC
Mrs. Joyce D. Bobbitt, age 76, transitioned on June 9, 2025 at her residence.
Joyce Deloris Hunter Bobbitt was born on January 29, 1949, in Nash County, North Carolina to the late Lawrence Moses Hunter and Doretha Taylor Hunter. She passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025, in the comfort of her home in Nashville, North Carolina.
Joyce attended the Nash County Schools.
She accepted Christ in her later years at the New Destiny Outreach Ministries.
Joyce enjoyed gardening and loved to cook almost anything. She loved spreading her love through her home-cooked meals that brought comfort to so many, especially the neighborhood kids. She was known all over for her delicious collard greens, chicken pastry, fried fish, and was pinned with the title as "The Potato Jack Queen". Joyce's passion for cooking led her to a rewarding 30 plus year career as the Cafeteria Supervisor at North Carolina Wesleyan College.
Joyce loved her family. She was very knowledgeable about family history. She had a sharp memory and could vividly recall almost any details about past family events. Joyce was witty and had a keen sense of humor that she kept until the end.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Wise and Barbara Richardson, and one brother, Dennis Earl Hunter.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her beloved husband of 57 years, Frank Bobbitt of the home, one loving and devoted daughter, Ashley Nicole "Nikki" Bobbitt of Nashville, NC, two grandchildren whom she totally adored, Nalaya Fenner and Jasiah Fenner both of Nashville, NC, two sisters, Marjorie H. Cooper and Loretta Hunter Richardson (Sam) both of Nashville, NC, one brother, Leevern Hunter of Upper Marlboro, NC, two aunts, Retha Mae Jordan and Pearly J. Taylor, special family friend, Malcolm Fenner, several nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins and friends.
"MAY SHE REST IN THE ARMS OF OUR LOVING SAVIOR UNTIL WE
MEET AGAIN"
