Joyce Lawson Carter

Joyce Lawson Carter, 80, of Reidsville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 8, 2025, with her daughter by her side.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 1821 Ashley Loop, Reidsville, NC 27320, with Nathan Chapman officiating.

Born on March 21, 1945, to the late Thomas Lee and Allie Lawson, Joyce lived a life marked by hard work, devotion, and love for her family. She was employed at the Eden Library for 20 years, and prior to that, she and her late husband of 50 years, John Moody Carter Jr., owned and operated Carter Construction Company for 19 years.

Joyce loved shopping, and the beach was her happy place. She also found joy in sitting on her porch, admiring her flowers, and spending time talking with her sister. Joyce had a tireless work ethic and loved staying busy throughout her life.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joann Dickerson.

She is survived by her children, John Carter (Lori), Jessica Price, and Craig Carter (Jennifer); grandchildren, Ashley Carter, Marlon Price (Ashley), Leland Price, Lisabeth Straughan (Eddie), John M. Carter IV (Stephanie), Aaron Carter, and Luke Carter; and great-grandchildren, Carter Straughan, Ashlyn Carter, and John Moody Carter V.
