JOYCE HARPIN CHARBONNEAU
"Some great morning, when this life is over, I'll fly away, I'll fly away.
And when I die, Halleluiah, by and by I'll fly away." This song was sung by Joyce Andree Harpin Charbonneau nearly every day, to the joy of those who heard her.
On Dec. 5, 2025, Joyce's 96 years of living amongst her friends and family came to a close. She now has departed this world , as she has taken that flight home to be with her Lord & Savior.
Joyce was born in Providence, RI on Nov. 28, 1929, to Barnabe and Irene (Morel) Harpin. She lived most of her earlier years with her parents in West Warwick, RI. She idolized her parents, and followed in their footsteps as an artist and antique dealer her entire life. Her business interest travels took her on the road weekly throughout the northeast and New England states, gathering Colonial era artifacts wherever they could be found. She loved meeting new and old friends during her show days exhibiting at renowned antique events such as the Brimfield and Venus DiMilo exhibitions, to name some of her favorites. Alongside her husband, they also operated a mail order catalog business selling antique toys and trains.
Joyce was pre-deceased by her husband Raymond "Micky" Charbonneau, who passed in 1982. In addition, Joyce leaves behind her niece Cynthia (Richard) Daigneault of Lincoln, RI , who was her caregiver. She also leaves her sister-in-law Irene Charbonneau of Manville, RI as well as two step-daughters, Carolyn Texeira and Linda Strefacci, both of MA, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
Joyce lived for over 60 years in South Attleboro, MA, before finally moving less than three years ago to The Holiday Retirement Home in Manville, RI. Over the years, Joyce's Christian faith was always clearly present, as she opened her "cottage in the woods" to countless Bible-study classes and such gatherings to share the Good Word. She was an active member of the Good News Bible Chapel located in Attleboro, MA. Her kindhearted generosity to those in need was truly motivating. She was likewise a lover of nature throughout her life, as she took in and nurtured countless stray cats and dogs dating back to when she was a child. She always felt at peace walking in the woods behind her home and connecting quietly with nature. She had a wonderfully quirky sense of humor.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caretakers and staff at the Holiday Retirement Home in Manville for their patience and loving care that Joyce received in her time at the Holiday.
Per Joyce's request, final burial will be private.
A memorial service will be held at the Good News Bible Chapel at a later date.
If you would like to honor her beautiful life, donations may be made to any local animal shelter.
