Joyce A. Chartier

Joyce Ann Chartier (Bradley) passed away on Saturday, November 25th surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late John & Flora Bradley. She was the wife of Francis J. Chartier, Sr for 63 years before his passing in 2012.
She leaves behind her 6 children. Francis J. Chartier, Jr. (Teresa), of North Carolina, John Chartier, Deborah Chartier, Denise Connell (William) of Smithfield, Donna Gray (Richard) of Wakefield, and David Chartier (Donna) of North Smithfield.
She was the grandmother of Jeffrey Chartier, Danielle Cuoco, Derek, Richard Jr., & David Gray, Sean & William Connell, Jr, Kristen Bannon, Adriana Chartier, Tiffany Patterson, and Mackenzie Chartier. She was the great grandmother of 15 with one on the way.
Joyce went back to school and received her GED and her associate degree in early childhood after her children were grown. She worked for Northwest Head Start as head teacher for 20+ years. Upon retirement she continued with her love of working with children. She opened an in-home daycare for 5+ years.
She was a past PTO president at Dorothy T. P. Dame School and a member of the first Booster Club at Smithfield High School. She was also a member of the Georgiaville and Centerdale Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was one of the first members of St. Michael's Social Justice Committee. Joyce loved helping the families of the parish who were in need. She helped with the food pantry, holiday food baskets and organizing the names and distribution of gifts at Christmas. She loved helping and being around people. But most of all she loved spending time with her family who were her world.
The Chartier family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Overlook Nursing Home for their never ending efforts to make their mother's end of life as comfortable as possible.
Her funeral will be held Friday December 1, 2023 at 9am from the TUCKER-QUINN Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Pike, Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Michael's Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Johnston. Visitation Thursday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Michael Church Social Justice Committee, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917 will be appreciated.
