Joyce Ann Chunn-Curtis

Mrs. Joyce Ann Chunn-Curtis, age 76, of Locust Grove, Georgia danced her way into heaven on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Jonesboro Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born on January 18, 1949, in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of the late Albert and Jessie Mae Graham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Albert Hugh Graham and Marilyn Marie Baker.
Joyce, better known as Grandma Red, Memaw Red, and, most importantly, Mama, was a true Southern lady with a big sassy spirit and a heart just as large. Joyce was a woman of many roles: a devoted mother, a doting grandmother, a talented hairdresser, a hardworking administrative assistant for the Georgia Division of Family and Childrens Services, and the beloved matriarch of her family.
Joyce had a love for life that shined brightest when she was on the dance floor, twirling to country music, especially the sounds of Dolly Parton and Elvis Presley. It was on one of those dance floors at the local Moose Lodge where she met her husband, proving that some of the best love stories begin with a good two-step.
Though she was outgoing and full of personality at workalways bringing energy and fun to her co-workersat home, she was a different kind of presence. She was steady, strong, and deeply devoted, stepping into any role her family needed with unwavering love. Nothing mattered more to her than her daughter and grandchildren, who were the absolute light of her life.
A little introverted but never one to back down from a lively time, Joyce had a quiet strength wrapped in a feisty, red-headed package. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her laughter, her sass, and the way she did every role in life uniquely her own. Now, shes dancing among the stars, probably requesting a Dolly song and saving a spot for all those she loved.
She leaves behind her husband, James Curtis Sr.; a daughter, Christie and Jerry Faulkner; grandchildren, Elizabeth Faulkner, Christopher Faulkner, and Sarah Faulkner; great-grandchildren, RayLynn, Lauren, Autumn, Nathan, Emma, Sawyer, Adam, and Thomas; as well as many extended family members and a host of friends who loved her.
A graveside service to honor Joyces life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, beginning 1:00 PM at the Woodbury City Cemetery in Woodbury, Georgia. Pastor Jeff Daws will officiate the service. Interment will follow the service. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors.
