Laura Byrd Hinton

Laura Byrd Hull Hinton, a lifelong resident of McDonough, GA, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025. She was born in Covington, GA, to the late Byrd Cowan Hull and Lovick Pierce Hull. Laura was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Zack Berry Hinton, Sr.; her granddaughter, Courtney Elizabeth Hayes; and her grandson, Matthew Franklin Hayes. A graduate of McDonough High School, Laura continued her education at Tift College and Georgia State University. She went on to serve as both CFO and CEO of Zack's Properties, a business she helped lead with dedication and vision. A devoted member of McDonough First United Methodist Church, Laura served in numerous roles over the years-including youth director, Sunday school teacher, finance committee member, trustee, building committee member, and church decorator. She also gave back to the community as a Brownie Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother. Her civic involvement extended beyond the church. Laura served on the boards of the Henry County Medical Center, the Henry County Medical Center Foundation, and the Henry County Chamber of Commerce. Laura found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also cherished her time with her bridge and book clubs, loved to garden, and enjoyed traveling the world with her late husband, Zack. She is survived by her sister, Susan & Don Jeffares; her son, Zip & Debbie Hinton; her daughter, Angie & Frank Hayes; her grandchildren, Lauren Hayes, Jake & Katie Hinton, Alex & Kyle Pope, and Caitlin & Neil Torpey; and her great-grandchildren, Nick Poliseno, Alyssa Hayes, Luke Benton, Caroline Benton, Dash Hinton, Rose Hull Hinton, Kap Pope, Collier Pope, and Liv Hayes Torpey; and her beloved cat Callie. A graveside service will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Park, with Rev. Dana Everhart and Rev. Nathaniel Long officiating. Wednesday, October 15th at 11AM.
