Terry J. Lloyd, 79, passed away with his family at his side on October 4, 2025. Terry was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and grew up in Marietta, Georgia.
Terry graduated high school from Georgia Military Academy, now Woodward Academy. Later, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Georgia State University. After graduation he married the love of his life, Janice Dyer and moved to Cherokee County to raise a family.
He served over 20 years in the United States Army through active duty and reserves, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He was an instructor and taught the Command & General Staff College courses. He had a passion for teaching and helping others.
Terry served the state as a budget analyst for the Geogia Department of Labor for over 34 years. He was married in June of 1969, to his loving wife, Janice Dyer. This past June they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. They had three daughters, Kristin Lloyd Towns, Dana Lloyd Martin, Lauren Lloyd McKenzie, whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Vivian Lloyd.
Survivors include his wife, Jancie Lloyd; children, Kristin Towns, Dana Martin, Lauren ( Scott) McKenzie; grandchildren, Isaac Martin, Morgan, Olivia, and Scott II McKenzie, Madison ( Colt) Sosebee and Micah ( Mary) Towns; great grandchild, Emilia Towns and another baby Towns on the way, as well as many treasured cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2005 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Barbara McGahey officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wreaths Across America for the Georgia National Cemetery.
