Joyce Clark Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by G.H. Herrmann Funeral Homes - Greenwood on Jan. 9, 2026.
Joyce Kathleen Clark, 79, of Indianapolis, was welcomed to eternity by her Heavenly Father on January 7, 2026. She was born on March 21, 1946 in Indianapolis to the late Audrea and Marguerite Hurst.
She was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant Christian Church for over 50 years where she served God in various ministries, including the Children's Ministry.
Joyce was so fun, funny, and sweet and truly modeled the love of God in the way she selflessly served others. She loved spending time with her family, watching her favorite athlete, Brady and dancer, Madison or listening to her son Garry preach and daughter Amber's adventures. Joyce loved playing games with her family and she and her sister were a force to be reckoned with as team "Aunt Mom". She also loved "Group" with her girlfriends, reading, crossword puzzles, word searches, and going to Culver's.
She is known for her servant's heart, infectious laugh, how she remembered everything and everyone, making everyone feel special, her timely thoughtful cards of encouragement, as well as her world famous Chex Mix.
Joyce worked as an LPN for her entire career, including over 20 years at Dr Kidd Pediatrics before she retired. She considered her patients there "her kids" and they were truly loved and served with the hands of Jesus when they were cared for by Nurse Joyce.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 54 years, Garry Clark, Sr; children, Garry (Amy) Clark, Jr. and Amber Clark; the delight of her heart, grandchildren, Madison Joy and Brady; brother, Fred Hurst; sister, Judy Leary; nephews, Tim (Jennifer) Hurst and Shawn (Becca) Leary; and niece, Erin Leary; great nieces, Abbey Hurst and Ella Leary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Audrea and Marguerite Hurst; maternal grandparents, Fred & Grace Mattox; paternal grandparents, Amandus & Mary Ethel Hurst; sister in law, Catherine Hurst; and brother in law, Tom Leary.
Whether you were honored to know her as wife, mom, mother in law, Nana, sister, aunt, cousin, Rejoycie, Nurse Joyce, friend or neighbor she was a true gift and the pain of her loss is felt deeply but her legacy will be remembered forever. We are grateful and encouraged that we grieve with hope (1 Thesslonians 4:13). Well done good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:23).
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the service time at 1:00 PM Friday, January 16, 2026 at Mount Pleasant Christian Church, 381 N. Bluff Road, Greenwood, IN 46142
She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery, in Franklin, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Pleasant Christian Church.

I am still in shock. I will miss Joyce so much. We taught Sunday school together w Janelle and named ourselves the Triple Js. When we were much younger we did nursing home ministry and started a "club" called The Crafters then in later years we were Group and went out to eat every month. I know you are in heaven w Jeannie and Cheryl running things! Until we meet again.
