Joyce Ernestine Shelby Cochran, 80, a resident of Duck River, TN, passed away Friday March 22, 2024 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Highland Church of Christ with David Morris and Brian Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at Stand Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Highland Church of Christ. The Family request memorials be made to Stand Cemetery c/o Joe Shelby 2044 Hoovers Road Duck River, TN 38454.
Joyce was born on September 20, 1943 in Hickman County to the late Ernest Shelby and the late Audley Mae Herron. She graduated from Hickman County High School in 1961. Joyce was a homemaker and took care of several children in the community that she loved dearly. She was a very loving and faithful Christian mother and friend. She was a devoted member of the Highland Church of Christ.
Her hobbies were entertaining family and friends at their home. She enjoyed going shopping and going out to eat. She also enjoyed car shows and entering their 1965 Ford Falcon along with her husband Roy.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law Diana and Daniel Goad of Columbia; Grandson, Dallas Goad of Columbia; Granddaughter, Natalie Ernsberger of Columbia; Great grandson Blaze Ernsberger. Sisters; Teresa Cooper, Gilda Cobb, and Linda (Wayne) Holt; Brother, Ernie (Jane) Shelby; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Sisters in laws, Bobbie Lowery, Georgia McCaleb, Ellen McCaleb; Brother in law Wayne Holt, brother; Ronnie (Gayle) Aydeloff, and several family members in Michigan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roy Cochran and sister Carolyn Matheney.
Pallbearers will be Dallas Goad, Jeff Holt, Dewayne Tidwell, Noah Cooper, Lance Shelby, Matt Shelby, Joe Shelby, Charles Cochran, and Chris Cochran. Honorary pallbearers will be Sloan “Junior” Cochran, Tommy McMeen, Members of Highland Church of Christ, and the Car Club.
The family would like to give special thanks to NHC of Columbia, Maury Regional Hospital, and special friends.
