Joyce Caroline Denison

Joyce Caroline Denison Passed away peacefully the evening of Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Sun Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care of Layton, Utah.

Joyce was born on July 30, 1928 in Lansing, Michigan to Harry S. and Lucia (Danes) Denison. She received her education at both Olivet College and the University of Michigan where she received both bachelor and master's degrees in Speech Pathology and Audiology. Joyce later received a PhD, from the University of Utah. She holds Clinical Competency in Speech Pathology from the National Speech and Hearing Association.

Joyce moved to Utah to accept a position with Davis School District as a Speech Pathologist and Hearing Specialist. Joyce developed a hearing screening program for students in the Davis Schools which is still used today. Years later she accepted a position at the University of Utah Medical Center in the Rehabilitation Department as a Speech Pathologist and Hearing Specialist. She worked with patients with severe medical needs effecting their abilities to c communicate. Joyce was later involved in a large medical research study of "Alport Syndrome".

Joyce loved her home and property on the banks of Mill Creek Canyon. This is where she raised and nurtured her families of beautiful Persian cats.

Joyce was a friend to many special people from her profession and very appreciative of the friendship she shared with her neighbors and the Christensen's and her longtime friend, Anne. She shared a special bond of love and friendship over many years with the Anderson's who welcomed Joyce as part of their family with love and to the Anderson's children, she was always "Aunt Joyce".

Special thanks to those who helped to care for Joyce a Sun Ridge Memory Care and AFI Hospice services. Especially love to her adopted granddaughter Kylee, who cared for Joyce as a CNA and truly loved her like her own grandmother, caring for her with unconditional love and holding her hand until she took her last breath. Joyce will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Joyce will be laid to rest next to her mother and father in the Bellevue Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue, Michigan.
