Joyce Shepherd Downward
Born June 8th 1930 the oldest of twin girls. Passed away March 8th 2024.
Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and friend to all. Joyce was born in Murray, Utah to William Leroy Shepherd and Myrtle Irene Berg. Joyce married Donald Alan Downward (later divorced). Together they had 4 children. Mom loved to cook, watch sports, especially the Jazz and BYU, and she was a professional chocolatier.
She was a hard worker and passed this on to all of her kids. She always made sure things were "fair". She loved her Heavenly Father and had unwavering faith and devotion to her church, and believed Jesus Christ was her savior.
She had a knack for decorating and loved fashion. She was always stylish, but shoes were her passion, especially high heels. She had the most beautiful legs that she was quite proud of. Even in her 90's her legs put most young women's legs to shame.
She is survived by her children Diane (Gary) Bloxham, Kent (Cindy) Downward, Jeff (Patricia) Downward, Leisa (Ross) Lingwall. 20 Grandchildren (1 preceded her in death) 41 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
We would like to thank her granddaughter Payton for the care she gave to Mom for the first 6 months after she came home from rehab. We would also like to thank her care team at Elevation Hospice, Aubrey, Jeff, Lexi and the singing Chaplain Matt, who went above and beyond to help care for her.
