Joyce Elaine Gibbs

Joyce Elaine Gibbs, 74, of Gastonia, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Atrium Health in Charlotte. A woman of quiet grace and unwavering faith, Joyce lived a life marked by kindness, thoughtfulness, and a deep love for those around her.
Born in Charlotte on April 12, 1951, Joyce was the cherished daughter of Marshall Gibbs and Betty Pinion. She graduated from West Mecklenburg High School and dedicated her career to the Federal Reserve, where she worked as a check processor with diligence and pride.
Joyce's heart was always turned toward others. She had a gift for making people feel seen, loved, and remembered-whether through a beautifully wrapped present, a handwritten note, or a simple act of kindness. Her calm spirit and gentle presence were a balm to many. She was a Proverbs 31 woman, truly worth more than rubies.
Indeed, as Proverbs 3:15 reminds us, "She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her." Joyce embodied this truth in every facet of her life.
She found joy in the simple pleasures-watching American Idol, clipping coupons with precision, and shopping for gifts she wrapped with care and creativity. But above all, she delighted in caring for others, letting them know they were deeply loved and never forgotten.
Joyce is survived by her devoted husband of 23 years, Gary; her beloved mother, Betty Pinion of Charlotte; her son, Cody Smith of Charlotte, and granddaughter Addi; her bonus daughters Malissa (Samuel) Baker of Rock Hill and their daughter Briley, and Betty (John) Donaldson of Matthews and their children Cassidy and Wesley. She is also survived by her sisters Gail Grier and Becky Pinion, and a host of extended family and dear friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marshall Gibbs, and her bonus sons, Isaac and Gary.
The family has entrusted Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home with the honor of caring for Joyce and her loved ones. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the funeral home located at 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. A service celebrating Joyce's life will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte.
Joyce Elaine Gibbs leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and gentle strength. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
