Joyce Halcomb Obituary
Mrs. Joyce J. Halcomb, age 92, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Lige and Suella (Bolton) Long, was born on January 6, 1932, in Garrard County, Kentucky. On June 23, 1951, she was united in marriage to Willis Halcomb and they were blessed with five sons. Throughout her life, she was a homemaker, a member of the Dupont Baptist Church and especially enjoyed fishing. Mrs. Halcomb passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the Norton King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.
Her life will be cherished by her sons: Tim Halcomb (Marilyn Lewellyn) of New Albany, Indiana, Paul Edward Halcomb (Mitzie) of North Vernon, Indiana, and Danny Halcomb, of Milton, Kentucky; her daughter-in-law: Mary Lou Halcomb of Clayton, Indiana; five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Halcomb; her sons: Rogar Allen Halcomb and Harold D. Halcomb; her sisters: Ina B. Harrison, Minnie Pearl Whitaker, Beatrice Davis, and Christine Foley; her brothers: Elemer Long, Kenny Long, and Charles Long.
Pastor Mike Cammack will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Lytle Welty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Dupont Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Wednesday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Dupont Baptist Church. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
