Joyce Elizabeth Kaylor

Joyce Elizabeth Kaylor, lovingly known as Beth, was born on December 5, 1967, in Oxford, Mississippi. She peacefully passed away on March 19, 2024, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Beth was 56 years old.
Beth dedicated twenty-five years of her life to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, where she served as a passionate and devoted Librarian. Her commitment to education and knowledge touched the lives of many students and faculty members throughout her career.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Beth found joy in spending time with her family, exploring her love for cooking, indulging in reading, and cherishing the companionship of her beloved pets. She was a valued member of the Wrightsville Beach United Methodist Church, where her faith and kindness shone bright.
Beth's journey began as a work-study student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, eventually blooming into a successful and fulfilling career as a librarian. Her dedication and hard work inspired all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a graduate of University of North Carolina at Wilmington and received her master's degree from Central State University of Library Science.
She is preceded in death by her wonderful parents, Dr. Norman Ray Kaylor, Sr., and Betty Jo Russell Kaylor. Beth is survived by her brother, Norman Ray Kaylor, and his wife, M. L. Bagwell of Marble, NC; her aunt Bette Widner of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and her cherished pet, Daisy.
A celebration of Beth's wonderful life will be held at a later date to honor her legacy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Robeson County Humane Society in Lumberton, North Carolina, to continue Beth's passion for caring for animals.
