Joyce Hemmer Keibler, 75, of Crestwood, KY passed away early Monday morning September 16, 2024 at her home.
She was born on January 5, 1949 in Louisville, KY to Jim and Mary Edna Hemmer. Joyce was a devout catholic her entire life. She attended St Rita Grade School and Angela Merici High School, she also graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University. Joyce was an active parishioner throughout her life, and especially at her current church, St Bernadette.
Joyce lived a life full of love, travel, faith and service. If there was a need- Joyce was there. After a long and successful career first as a nurse and then as a publishing sales representative Joyce turned her talents to work with Harbor House of Louisville. At Harbor House she started the successful 'Ducky Derby' fundraiser which still continues today. Later Joyce became a local long-term care ombudsman. A volunteer position that required countless hours and often challenging situations. Joyce, in her ever-determined nature, always took to these challenges with vigor and passion.
In 2005 Joyce and her husband Gary (of 44 years) bought a farm in Crestwood, KY-Hemmer Hill Farm. Together they raised St Croix Hair Sheep, ran a CSA community farmers market and became avid gardeners. The farm became a place of gathering for family, friends and neighbors-which was one of the things Joyce loved most.
Joyce meant so much to so many people. We are forever grateful to have had her as our matriarch.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved son, Clayton Keibler.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Gary Keibler, daughter Lauren Keibler O'Connor, son-in-law Timothy O'Connor; grandsons, Grant, Bradley and Myles O'Connor; her beloved sister Laura Fackler and brother-in-law Phil Fackler and nephews Austin Fackler and Collin Fackler.
A funeral mass will be held at 11am on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at St Bernadette Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10am. 6500 St Bernadette Ave, Prospect, KY, 40059
The funeral will be live-streamed at https://www.stb2008.org/media for those who cannot attend in person.

Joyce welcomed me home, and did so much for my Mom in her early days of illness. She was always smiling, interested and caring. My heart breaks for her family. She will be missed.

I was happy to meet Joyce and share the passion of agriculture with her. One day, I helped her plant broccoli for her CSA. We chatted the entire time about many things while we dug in the dirt. When I attended a Derby Brunch at her house, she showed us how to bottle feed a lamb or two. She showed us her shiitake mushrooms she was growing for the CSA. I will miss Joyce as she always shared a smile with me. peace be with her.
