Joyce A. Kercher, 91, born on October 14, 1933, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at Berks Heim Nursing Home.
Joyce was a proud 1951 graduate of Reading High School. She was a lifelong sports enthusiast, particularly passionate about the Reading High School Basketball Team. Her unwavering support for the team was evident as she frequently attended games, where she could be found cheering on the players with enthusiasm and was affectionately known for her blue jacket and as "Miss Joyce" by players and the community. Her dedication extended beyond mere fandom; Joyce was a lifetime member of the Reading High School Basketball Squires Club, a testament to her deep connection with the team and its community.
Her family continued to bring great joy into her life. She is survived by her nephews, Gary T. Kercher and Charles K. Kercher, and nieces, Kate Sipple and Jennifer Cantner and her great nieces and nephews: Matthew Kercher, husband of Olivia, Christina Kercher, wife of Robert Smith, Alyssa Kercher, and Brandon Kercher. Joyce also adored her eight great-great nieces and nephews: Terran, Cameron, Abigail, Chase, Carter, Jameson, Ilea, and Kaicen, all of whom she cherished deeply.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Clarence and Anna (Kauffman) Kercher, as well as her siblings Charles, Richard, Marie, LeRoy, and Nancy Kercher. She was also predeceased by her nephew, Terry Kercher.
Visitation services will be held on July 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home, located at 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple, PA 19560. This will be followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM , where family and friends are invited to gather to honor her memory and share their fondest remembrances.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joyce's name may be made to the Reading High School Basketball Squires Club, 1513 Durwood Court, Reading, PA 19609.
Joyce A. Kercher will be remembered for her spirited passion for life, her devotion to family, her enduring support of the Reading High School Basketball Team and her dedication to the Camp Fire Girls serving as a leader to young women in the Reading Area for over fifty years. Her legacy of love and commitment to her family will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.
