Mary Martha "Marty" Kercher, 96, of Evansville, passed away at her home on Saturday, October 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Marty was born on March 22, 1929, in Evansville to the late Arthur and Olivia (Hillenbrand) Kremer. She was a lifelong member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and a graduate of Reitz Memorial High School. Marty worked as a certified dental assistant serving in the offices of Drs. Bryan and Bryan for 19 years. She was also a member of the Legion of Mary, the Daughters of Isabella and the St. Boniface Prayer Group. She served as the PTA secretary of St. Boniface School for 12 years and also as the parish representative for the Catholic Charities Christmas for the Poor. Marty sang in the choirs of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and St. Boniface Catholic Church, was a member of the Sweet Adeline Chorus and sang baritone in the Debonair Quartet.
Surviving Marty are four daughters, Karla (Carlos) Solis, Sara Hoehn, Donna Holm and Lea (Steven) Johnson; two sons, Kenneth (Teresa) Kercher and Gary (Janine) Kercher, eighteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and thirty-five nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marty was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Urban Kercher in 2010; by two sisters, Margaret Stephens and Rosalie Dunkel; brothers, Daniel Kremer, Norbert Kremer and Jerome Kremer and sons-in-law, Mark Holm and Ron Hoehn.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Rev. Christopher Droste officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 AM until service time on Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 418 N. Wabash Ave.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Boniface Catholic Church or to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, 809 N. Lafayette Ave, Evansville, IN 47711.
