Victor Eugene Wilson Sr., a cherished patriarch, devoted husband, and beloved member of the Evansville community departed this life for his heavenly home on October 9th, 2025, at the venerable age of 81. Born in the same town on January 27th, 1944, his life was a testament to dedication, love, and the simple joys that make life meaningful.

Victor's journey began as a young boy in Evansville where his lifelong passion for mechanics and craftsmanship was kindled. After completing his education, he applied his skills as a Diesel Mechanic, a vocation he proudly held for 35 years. Throughout his career, he was not only known for his reliability and expertise but also for the dignity and integrity with which he approached every task.

Beyond the garage, Victor was a man deeply rooted in his Christian faith. It was this faith that underscored his life's principles and guided him through times both prosperous and challenging. His devotion was an inspiration to those around him, serving as a quiet yet powerful example of steadfast spirituality.

At home, Victor was the cornerstone of his family. He shared a loving marriage with his wife, Linda Wilson, for 56 incredible years. Together, they raised a family that grew to include their children: Victor Jr. and his wife Lisa, Jennifer (Todd) Melissa and her husband John, and daughter in law Andrea Wilson. He was a revered figure for his grandchildren: Shelbie, Victoria, Alexxis, Christopher, Avry, Brent, and Preston and his wife Sydney. Victor also had the joy of being a great grandfather to Bentlee, Bronson, Braden, Journee, Bentley, and Savannah, cherishing every moment he was able to spend with them.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents Mrytle and Roy Wilson, many brothers and sisters and his Grandson Austin.

Victor's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. He found peace in the resplendent tranquility of Panama City Beach and routinely sought out new destinations to explore. Exploring was one of his greatest pleasures, equally matched by his enjoyment of camping under the stars.

Additionally, Victor had an artisan's touch with leatherwork, crafting beautiful pieces that were both practical and aesthetically pleasing. His love for trains was not just in watching them rattle down the tracks but also in the meticulous building of Lego models, a hobby he found both engaging and soothing.

Those who knew Victor would describe him as the epitome of love, courage, and gentleness. His quiet strength was formidable, his compassion was evident in every interaction, and his courage was as much in his ability to fight life's battles as it was in his capacity to show vulnerability.

With Victor's passing, the world has lost a man who was as gentle as he was principled, as fun-loving as he was hardworking. The values he embodied and the love he bestowed will continue to echo through the generations of his family and all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.

The community of Evansville, the city that gave him both his first breath and his last, will remember Victor as a man who lived a full and meaningful life, touching others with his generosity of spirit. Victor Eugene Wilson Sr.'s life was a beautiful narrative of commitment, affection, and resilience, leaving behind a legacy that will undoubtedly endure for years to come.

In honor of Victor, Tuesday October 14th at 10 am there will be a graveside service held, at Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center and Cemetery.
