Robert Earl Lampton, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 8, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on October 3, 1941, in Evansville, Robert's life was a testament to his dedication to his family, his work, and his community.
Robert's journey began as the beloved son of Oscar and Isabel Lampton. He grew up alongside his siblings, forging lifelong bonds and memories. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Wilma and Dean Barthel, Wilbur and Bess Lampton, James and Arlene Lampton, Doyle and Willie Lampton, Aaron and Ann Lampton (Sandy), and Elsa and George Marx. He is survived by his sister Phyllis and the late Carl Horstman, who together share the legacy of the Lampton family.
A proud graduate of Bosse High School's class of 1959, Robert's work ethic and intelligence were evident early on. His career as an electrician spanned 37 years at Alcoa, where he was not only a respected colleague but also a friend to many. His commitment to his fellow workers was reflected in his active participation in Union Local 104, where he formed lasting friendships and worked tirelessly for the rights and benefits of his peers.
Robert's heart was truly revealed in his love for his family. Robert was married to the love of his life Winifred Lampton, for an incredible 62 years. Together, they raised two adoring children, Karen Lampton Brown and Robert Earl Lampton Jr. His legacy continued to flourish through his grandchildren, Kyle Thomas Brown (Jessica), Ashley Nicole Brown, Blake Robert Lampton, and his great-grandchild, Jackson Paul Brown. Each of them carried a piece of Robert's spirit and teachings.
A man of faith, Robert was a devoted member of the Newburgh Church of Christ, where he found solace, strength, and fellowship. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life and provided comfort to him and his family in times of need.
In addition to his loving family, Robert was blessed with great friends. He and Winnie were fortunate to have the Specht, Tenbarge and Wilsbacher families in their lives. Their friendships have meant the world to them.
Robert's interests were a reflection of a life well-lived and loved. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as hunting rabbit and squirrels, a pastime that allowed him to connect with nature and the tranquility of the outdoors. His love for spending time with his family was unmatched, and the moments shared with them were his most treasured. The camaraderie he shared with his friends from the union was a source of laughter and support, and those friendships endured through the years.
Robert Earl Lampton lived a life marked by love, dedication, and service. His memory will be held dear in the hearts of those who knew him, and his influence will continue to be felt by all the lives he touched. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate the enduring impact he has made on his family, friends, and community. His was a life truly well-lived.
