Phyllis L. Riley, a cherished soul known affectionately as Phyllis to her loved ones, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, in her hometown of Evansville, IN, where she was also born on November 19, 1939. Her life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and service, woven with the threads of family, faith, and friendship.

Phyllis graduated from the old Central High School and soon after found her calling as a beautician. For over 35 years, she brought beauty and joy into the lives of countless individuals, operating out of her home with a warm smile and a gentle touch. Her work was not just a profession but a way to connect with the community she held so dear.

The love story between Phyllis and her high school sweetheart, Ronald Riley, was one for the ages. Married for over 66 years, their journey together was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. Ronald was her steadfast companion through the ebbs and flows of life. Along with Ronald, Phyllis leaves behind her devoted daughter, Lisa Wilson, and her son, Todd (Lisa) Riley. Her grandchildren, Mackenzie (Jonathan) Lukeman, Chase Riley, will carry forward her legacy of kindness and grace. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Spencer Lukeman, Charlotte Sharp, and Austyn Greenwell, who brought immense joy to her later years. Phyllis was preceded in death by her grandson, Rusty Wilson, and her parents, Viola Whipple Moody and William Schauss.

Her interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. Phyllis found solace in the pages of romance novels and the unfolding dramas of Lifetime movies. She cherished her time visiting the lake, where she reveled in boating and relaxing at their beloved home away from home in Kentucky. A lover of shopping, animals, daisies and all things life had to offer, Phyllis approached every day with enthusiasm and a zest for new experiences.

A faithful member of the Christian Fellowship Church, Phyllis's spiritual life was a cornerstone of her existence. The church community, in turn, provided her with immense prayer and support, especially in recent years, reflecting the deep bonds she had forged through her unwavering faith.

Phyllis's departure leaves a void in the hearts of many family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Yet, they take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the memories they hold and the love she so freely gave. Her life was a beautiful reflection of the joy and compassion she brought into the world, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Phyllis L. Riley will be remembered not just for the life she lived, but for the countless lives she touched with her kindness and warmth.

A Celebration of life will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home in Evansville, IN. Visitation will begin at 12pm. Service will follow at 2pm.

So surprised to learn of the death of Phyllis' death. Having her as a neighbor and a business customer, I always looked forward to seeing her and spending a little time conversing. I have lots of pleasant memories spent with her. Condolences to all of her family especially Ron.
