Joyce Taylor King, 78, passed away on Friday afternoon, February 20 at ECU Health in Greenville. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law; Joy K. Pate and husband Lee of Faison; a son and daughter-in-law, Chuck King and his wife Belinda of Faison; five grandchildren, Nick King, Cassy Ware and husband Hayden, Katie King, Abbey O'Neal and husband Alex, and Hunt Pate; great-grandchildren, Cohen Ware and Watson O'Neal; a sister, Doris Rouse of Seven Springs; and a brother-in-law, Seth "Snowball" Blizzard; and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; Gurney and Gladys Alphin Taylor; siblings Bill Taylor, Marlene Blizzard, and Elwood Taylor.

Joyce had worked at Guilford East for several years. She had most recently worked as a substitute teacher at North Duplin High School where she loved being a part of the Rebel family. She was always present for her grandchildren's' athletic events, no matter when or where. Joyce had volunteered with the Faison Rescue Service and took great pride in serving her small town community. She was a 1966 graduate of East Duplin High School.

A Graveside service will take place on Tuesday, February 24, at eleven o'clock in the morning in the Taylor Family Cemetery, on Thurman Herring Road, Mount Olive. Rev. Paul Rose will officiate the service with the family receiving friends immediately following, and at other times at Joyces' home on Winnifred Street, Faison.
