Joyce A. (McDonnell) McDonough, of Middleboro, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 15, 2023. She was the loving wife of John F. McDonough.
Born April 10, 1946 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. McDonnell and Gladys (Koons) McDonnell. A 1967 graduate of Emmanuel College, Joyce also had a Master's Degree from Lesley College in Cambridge.
She was a dedicated teacher in the Brockton Public Schools for over 20 years. She was dearly loved by all who knew her, especially her longtime friends Michelle Gain of Bridgewater and Eileen Courtney of Quincy and so many others too numerous to mention.
Joyce was an avid reader and belonged to two book clubs at Oak Point where she had resided for the last two years. Joyce and John loved to travel and spend summer days on the beach in Marshfield.
In addition to John her husband of 55 years, Joyce is survived by her sons Jonathan (Jennifer) and Matthew (Heather), both of Brockton and Daniel (Christine) of New Jersey. She dearly loved her seven grandchildren Zachary, Allison, Megan, Rebecca, Katelyn, Liam and Alannah. She was the sister of Robert McDonnell of Middleborough and the late Marian Jorgensen of Brockton.
Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 17 Main St., (Rt105) Lakeville on Thursday, December 21st at 9:00AM thence to Sacred Heart Church of St. Isidore Parish, 340 Centre St., Middleboro where a funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of her soul at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Middleboro. Calling hours in the funeral Home on Wednesday from 3:00PM-7:00PM. in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital.
