Joyce Carol Meyer (MacKenzie), age 83 of Neenah, WI passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025. She was born to Irvin and Lydia (Seely) MacKenzie on December 13, 1941 in Gladstone, MI, where she lived until the age of 82. After graduating high school, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Meyer, and together, they raised 3 children in the home they built together for whom she devoted her love as a full-time mom.
Joyce was a very feisty woman who always spoke her mind. Her nurses described her as ‘spicy’, while her grandkids often said she was ‘a force of nature’. Truly, though, she was a loving woman, but unafraid to be honest about her stances. Joyce found pleasure in many simple things, but joyous things, nonetheless. In her free time, Joyce liked gardening and playing bridge. She also couldn’t pass a Kohl’s without going in and seeing what deals they could offer her for her Kohl’s Cash. More than anything, though, Joyce took pride in her family and cherished every moment she could with her kids and grandkids – especially her grandkids!
Joyce will be deeply missed by her children, Julie (James Delene) Meyer, Sherrie (Brian) Jacobi, and Scott Meyer; her grandchildren, Lydia, Madeline, Maxwell, Rosalie, Ryan, and Brittny Delene, Shaelyn (Drew) Gendreau, and Brennan, Braedan, and Brogan Jacobi; her great-grandchildren, Asher Gendreau, Braelyn Jacobi, and baby Gendreau due in August; her sisters, Lettie Houghton and Lydia “Pi” Kelley; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Meyer; her parents, Irvin and Lydia MacKenzie; and her sisters, Betty Fassbender, Ann Schilz, Jackie Brown, and Jean Dubord.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 12-4 PM EST on Thursday, August 7th, 2025 at the Ski Chalet in the Gladstone Sports Park at 900 North Bluff Drive, Gladstone, MI 49837 with a small graveside memorial service on Friday, August 8th, 2025 at 10 AM EST. Joyce will be laid to rest with her husband at Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone, MI. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to ThedaCare At Home hospice or your local hospice program helping your community.
Joyce’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and other supporting staff at Copperstone Assisted Living for their expertise, care, and compassion shown to Joyce.
