Joyce Ailene Morgan-Cardwell Obituary
Joyce A. Morgan-Cardwell, 79, last sunset occurred on Saturday May 24, 2025, at Clovis Community Hospital. She was a loving sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and a dear friend to many.
Joyce was born March 2, 1946, in Cleveland Tennessee, the daughter of the late Froney Ally Davis and Issac Gibson Jr. She resided in Kerman California.
Joyce was widowed by Robert C. Cardwell of Kerman, California, her son, Timothy Lee York, granddaughters Toni Francine Navarrette, Alianna Ravae Flores, Tiffany Renee York. Her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Joyce is survived by her four daughters Mary Francis York of Athens Tennessee, Tina Marie York of Cleveland Tennessee, Paula Annette Flores of Kerman California and Lajeana Shoffner of Reedley California. Her sister, Marilyn Pippin Page of Cleveland Tennessee, her brothers Kenneth Gibson of Springfield Virginia and James Randall Gibson of Cleveland Tennessee. Her 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
She spent her childhood in Tennessee. She came to California when she was 20 years old, with three small children, Mary, Tim and Tina York. She met and married Paul H. Morgan, and had two children, Paula and Lajeana. They settled in Firebaugh, California where her children were raised on a large agricultural farm.
She worked over 20 years at the Mendota Food Center as a cashier; she met her best friend while working at the Food Center. She retired and spent some time living in Tennessee. At 60 years of age, she decided to join the workforce again and applied for a job at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). She worked for the IRS 19 years and retired January 31, 2025. She made many lifelong friends at the IRS, too.
Joyce was especially proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many hours talking to them on the telephone or looking at their Facebook posts, enjoying the many pictures and life events. When major events occurred in their life, she was always there for them. She loved her family with all her heart.
Joyce can best be remembered for her great love of her family, her work ethics, and overall character of putting others' needs before her own.
Visitation will be held at Clovis Funeral Chapel on June 10, 2025, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Chapel services will be held at Clovis Funeral Chapel on June 11, 2025, at 10am, followed by interment at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
