Joyce Marie Nevin

Joyce Marie Nevin, 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born on October 7, 1942, in Garden City, Kansas, to Julius Meier and Pauline Rupp. She married the love of her life, Sidney Nevin, on May 13, 1961.
Joyce attended local schools and graduated from Garden City High School. In the mid 1970s, she began a long and dedicated career as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Sterilization Technician at St. Catherine Hospital, where she served with compassion and care until her retirement. Even after retiring, Joyce continued to give back by volunteering at St. Catherine Hospital. She was a faithful and active member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Joyce took great pride in her family and was always willing to help whenever she could. She especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. In her free time, Joyce enjoyed helping her husband with his woodworking projects, participated in a bowling league, and spending time with her dog.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita (Skeeter) Johnson; her son, Johnnie Nevin and wife Leanna; grandchildren, Nick Bayer; Airika Smyth (Brandon); Brittani Powers; Shane Holsted; Makenzie Quintana (Brett); Rebecca Townsley (Drew); Jess Hall; and Natacha Mangan; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Nevin; her son, Kelly Nevin; her parents, Julius and Pauline Meier; and her great-granddaughter, Harper Salazar.
A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, and a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, both at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas, with Rev. Jacob Schneider officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
