Joyce Pankow July 24, 1936 – November 27, 2025
Joyce Pankow of Clawson, Michigan, peacefully passed away on November 27, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born on July 24, 1936, at the family farm in Cleveland, Virginia, Joyce moved with her family to Clawson when she was five years old. She graduated from Clawson High School in 1955 and, the following year, married her high school sweetheart, Tom Pankow, on September 29, 1956. Together, they built a home in Troy and raised their three children-a place filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Joyce had a deep love for gardening, especially her beloved roses, and she had an unwavering affection for all animals. Her precious cat, Lily-her constant companion for 21 years-passed just one month before her. Joyce never met a stranger; she sought out the good in every person and made life more joyful for those around her. She loved to laugh and to bring joy to everyone around her.
Above all, Joyce's greatest joy in life was her family.
She is survived by her children: Julie DeMull, Thomas Pankow Jr., and Steve (Heidi) Pankow; her grandchildren: Thomas III (Nikki), Haley Pankow, Hannah (Travis) Sharp, Matthew, Madison, and Erica Pankow; and her great-granddaughter, Francesca Pankow. She is also survived by her sisters, Judy Kubert and Carol (Dave) Johnston.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Tom Pankow; her parents, Ranzy and Betty Smith; her son-in-law, Skip DeMull; and her beloved cat, Lily.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 1:30 PM, followed by a service at 2:30 PM and a luncheon afterward at:
