Joyce E. Peppin

Joyce E. (Scully) Peppin, 84, of Ashford, CT passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Mansfield Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late Joseph and Ellinor (Jurgensen) Scully. Joyce graduated from Windham High School in 1958 and married James L. Peppin in 1960. They raised five children while living in Columbia, CT and eventually moved to Ashford. She loved crafting and sewing and became a member of the Red Hat Society with her sister Lee. Joyce and Lee were two of a kind and at family gatherings were often found sitting together laughing – wine glass in hand. Joyce is survived by her children, Donna Culpepper, James L. Peppin, Jr., Michael Peppin and his wife Valerie, Wendy Simkowitz and her husband Neal, and Holly Kusterer and her husband Justin; grandchildren, Caitlyn McPhatter and her husband Ethan, Cody Culpepper and his wife Michaela, Joseph Peppin, Vanessa Simkowitz, Preston Plourd, and Peighton Marsh and her wife Lex; great grandchildren, Kai Culpepper and Eli McPhatter; and half-sisters Gloria (Bill) Davis and Alice (Sandy) Sander. She was predeceased by her husband, James L. Peppin in 2023; a sister, Ellinor Lee Sisson; and two half-brothers Martin Koppisch and Bertram Koppisch. A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT.
