Joyce E. Potvin (Picchione) of Middleboro and formerly of Halifax passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025 after a period of failing health. She was 84 years old.
Joyce was born and raised in Brockton, and graduated from Brockton High School in 1959. She worked at White Star Laundry in Brockton after graduation.
She met George Potvin in 1958 during his time in the service through Joyce's brother who was also serving in the military. They dated for a little while before they got married on April 17th, 1960. They briefly lived in Brockton before settling down in Halifax where they raised their three children.
Joyce stayed home taking care of her children until they were old enough, then began working at Shaw's market as a meat wrapper. She enjoyed just over twenty years of retirement.
Joyce and George enjoyed going on camping trips in Vermont as a family. She was a life-long fan of Elvis Presley and one of the highlights of her life was her trip to Graceland. She also filled her time by knitting hats, mittens, and afghan blankets, and baking and cooking for her loved ones. She adored spending time with family and always made sure everyone was fed.
Joyce will be remembered for her caregiving and love for her family and friends, who will miss her deeply.
Joyce is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Cora (Capporatta) Picchione, her sister Lorraine Norvish, and her brothers Anthony Picchione, and Joseph Picchione.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, George Potvin of Middleboro. Cherished mother of Rosemarie Turner and her husband William of Bridgewater, Michael Potvin and his wife Jill of Carver, and Donald Potvin and his wife Suzanne of Norton. Adored grandmother of William Turner, Jr., Rachael Turner, Nicole Tringali, Justin Potvin, and Michelle Tellen. Doting great grandmother of Abigail and Benjamin Tringali, and Elianna Tellen. Devoted sister of Carol O'Connell of Taunton. Joyce also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Joyce will be held privately.
