Joyce Queen Obituary
Joyce Queen, 83, of Roscoe, IL passed away on May 24, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 26, 1940 in Belvidere, IL, the daughter of Hugh and Stella (Holiday) Voorhies. Joyce was a 1959 graduate of Belvidere High School. She married the love of her life, David W. Queen in Alabama on July 10, 1967. Joyce retired from Warner Lambert where she worked packaging gum and then she worked part-time at The Cornerstone Clinic as a receptionist. Member of Life Church Assembly of God in Roscoe, IL.
Survivors include son David (Michelle) Queen Jr.; daughters Mary Kris Queen, Angela (Chris) Ruper, Lisa Queen, Theresa Peak, son-in-law Martin Selover; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grand-children; siblings, James Voorhies, Mary Lou Voorhies and Donna Knox; sister-in-law, Viola Voorhies; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by parents; husband; daughter, Cindy K. Selover; granddaughter Jennifer Marie Queen; siblings, Hugh Voorhies, Jennetta Totz, Jack Voorhies, Genevieve Ellingson, Shirley Rubert, Annabell Swanson, Robert Voorhies and Judy Fisk.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 am Saturday June 3, 2023 in McCorkle Funeral Home-Rockton Chapel 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd. Rockton, IL with Pastor Nick Guzzardo of New Life Church officiating. Burial will be in Willowbrook Cemetery in Roscoe, IL. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of ceremony Saturday.
