Joyce Darlene Rice

JOYCE DARLENE (STILTNER) RICE, 74 years of age of Grundy, VA, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, at her home. Born in Grundy, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Stella (Thacker) Stiltner. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and loved spending time with family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Rad Rice; 2-brothers: Dean and Jerry Stiltner.

Those left to cherish her memory include 2-daughters: Kimberly and husband David Elswick, Lebanon, VA, Julia and husband David Jackson, Grundy, VA; 1-son: Jim and wife Suzanne Rice, Grundy, VA; 2-granddaughers: Brittany Rice and husband Marti Smith, Ava Elswick; 3-grandsons: Jim Radford Rice III, Devin Cook and wife Fatima Camacho-Cook, Blake Cook; 1-step granddaughter: Baylee (DJ) Stiltner, 1-step grandson: Austin Jackson; 1-great grandson due in July; 7-step great grandchildren; 1-brother: James "Pete" and wife Joan Stiltner, Big Rock, VA.

Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services for JOYCE DARLENE (STILTNER) RICE will be Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Jim Blankenship, Austin Bradley, Jimmy Yates and James McClananhan officiating. Burial will follow in the Stiltner Rice Cemetery on Poplar Creek.

Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
