Joyce Runyon, age 78, of Thomasville, GA, passed away on October 4, 2025, in Thomasville, GA, where she had lived for many years. Joyce was born on June 19, 1947, in Orlando, FL, to William and Elizabeth Merry. She spent a portion of her early education at Florida State University, to which she remained a loyal fan. Joyce was an active member of Dawson Street Baptist Church, where she served as an adult Sunday school teacher and participated in missions. Known for her artistic talents, she enjoyed quilting and ceramics, establishing herself as a wonderful local artist whose work brought joy to many. Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her husband, David Runyon, and her children, Michael Hubbard (Julie) of Lillian, Alabama; Glenelle Bruneske (Gary) of Gilbert, Arizona; Teresa Jericho of Maricopa, Arizona; Sigrid Barcelo of Gilbert, Arizona; Chuck Runyon (Darlene) of Gainesville, Florida; and Paul Runyon (Ana) of Mesa, Arizona, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, William Merry, and her sister-in-law, Etta Quick. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joan Merry. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Dawson Street Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Waller officiating. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, providing family and friends an opportunity to come together and honor Joyce. She will be laid to rest at Laurel Hill Cemetery following the service.
