Joyce Sammet Obituary

FRANKLIN - Joyce Corra Sammet, née White, 93, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Boonespring Skilled Nursing Facility in Union, Kentucky. Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Aug. 7, 1930, she was the daughter of Percy and Marion Lena (Underwood) White.
Joyce and her late husband, Charles "Chuck" Sammet were married Dec. 28, 1952, and spent the next 10 years traveling the U.S. as Chuck was a member of the U.S. Air Force. They settled in the Central Florida area in 1954. Joyce was a graduate of Rollins College and retired as the office manager of Orange Paving & Construction Co. She was very active in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in the Sanford area.
Joyce was the beloved mother of Eileen (Jim) Heasley and Charles "Chuck" (Allison) Sammet; and the dear grandmother of James M. Heasley Jr., Christopher Mack, Benjamin Sammet and Alyssa Sammet. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Benjamin Sammet.
Joyce and Chuck will return home to the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, that they knew and loved so well. They will be jointly laid to rest at Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Joyce's name to Rollins College.
