Joyce Shead Obituary
Joyce Chastain Shead, 84, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025. She was born December 17, 1941, to the late George Dewey Chastain and the late Margaret Hightower Chastain.
Joyce was known for her kindness, her caring heart, and the many wonderful memories she created around her kitchen table. Her delicious cooking and warm laughter brought family and friends together, and those moments will be deeply missed. In her professional life Joyce had a long career with AT&T, serving in many different roles for the more than 30 years she worked there.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by all of her siblings.
She is survived by her sons, Barry (Oxana) Shead and Brian (Stacy) Shead; and her grandchildren, Liah, Daniel, and Ariana Shead. They will carry forward the love, wisdom, and traditions she shared with them.
The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A memorial service will follow in the Sam Clark Chapel at 12:00 PM with Rev. Don Rackley officiating. All who knew and loved Joyce are invited to join in celebrating her life.
Joyce will be remembered for her devotion to family, her gentle spirit, and the countless meals and memories that filled her home with love and laughter.
