Joyce Kathleen Sloan

Joyce Kathleen (Earl) Sloan, a resident of the Antigo area, died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 91, on Monday, October 13, 2025.
Joyce was born on March 6, 1934, in Austin, MN, the daughter of Leslie and Luella (Nelson) Earl.
On March 14, 1954, Joyce was united in marriage to Robert 'Bud' Sloan in Albert Lea, MN.
Joyce grew up in Albert Lea, MN, and went to college at Mankato State where she met and married Bud. During their 55 years of marriage, they enjoyed living and raising their family in White Bear Lake, MN, Wausau, WI, North Little Rock, AR and Corona, CA. Upon Bud's passing, Joyce returned to Antigo, WI in 2010.
Joyce dedicated her life to her family, always providing unwavering support and love. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, including her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, a sentiment they felt in the warmth she shared. Joyce loved to cook meals for family dinners on Sundays and holidays.
Professionally, Joyce worked as a director for preschools in Arkansas and California. Her kindness, sense of humor and joyful spirit left a lasting impression.
Joyce is survived by three daughters, Chris (Dave) Schalow of Birnamwood, WI, Cathy (Art) Middleton of Fayetteville, AR and Cheryl (Eric) Gustafson of Furlong, PA. She is also survived by her sister, Sandi (Ron) Boekelman of Albert Lea, MN. She is the grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 10.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert 'Bud' Sloan; son, Phillip; parents, Luella and Leslie Earl; brothers, Donny Earl and his wife, Virginia, and Jerry Earl and his wife, Deanne.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood. Pastor Jennifer Sosinski will preside. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery, Birnamwood. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 11 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
