Joyce Smith Obituary
Joyce Wilson Smith, 80, of Candler passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at her residence. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Hurst and Margie Banks Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Smith in 2022; son, John G. Baldwin and two brothers.
Joyce spent 41 years working in the cosmetology industry. She enjoyed fishing and cooking, but the highlights of her days were her grandchildren. She was a member of High Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Jack G. Baldwin (Lisa); sister, Sandra Waddell; three grandchildren, Jack Gregory Baldwin (Samantha), Jessica Gabriela Hamlin (TJ) and Heather Danielle Merrill (Jake); eight great-grandchildren, Jaelyn, Hadleigh, Emmett, Jace, Raelyn, Rylee, Bryson and Jackson and several nieces and nephews
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at High Street Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Willett officiating. Interment will follow the service at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to High Street Baptist Church, 283 High Street, Canton, NC 28716.
The care of Mrs. Smith has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes Canton
