Joyce Marie Weigold, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, sister, friend, went to her heavenly home on May 24, 2025.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday May 29, 2025, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 16070 W. Brady Rd., Oakley. A luncheon will take place immediately after the service, and burial will then follow at Marion Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 28 at McGeehan Funeral Homes, 209 Entrepreneur Dr., St. Charles from 2-8 PM.
Joyce was born February 19, 1941, to Melvin and Arlene (Hodges) Miller. On July 2, 1960, she married her sweetheart Marvin Weigold at St. John Lutheran Church in Marion Springs. With love, they built a home on the Weigold family homestead. Together, they farmed the Centennial farm and raised a family. Joyce graduated from Merrill High School in 1960. She worked as a homemaker bringing up her three children Kelly, Mark, and Tod. She also was employed as a school cafeteria chef at Merrill schools for over 15 years.
Joyce lived her faith in many ways including serving her Christ Lutheran Oakley family by providing with Marvin the communion wine made from their own grape vines, serving on the Ladies Aide and alter guild, and helping provide numerous funeral meals. Her joy came from her family, watching from the bleachers for three generations, making her famous baked beans, macaroni & cheese, home-made pizza, and cherry cheesecake. She took great pride in keeping her home spotless and was a wizard with her many uses of masking tape.
Surviving are her three children, Kelly (Pat) Bishop, Mark (Kathi) Weigold and Tod Weigold; nine grandchildren, Amanda (David) Roberts, Angela (Brennan) Neumeyer, Ethan Bishop, Ryan (Katie) Weigold, Glenn Weigold, Ashley Weigold, Alysha Weigold, Jordan Weigold and Jarrett Weigold; six great-grandchildren, Bailey, Brady and Noah Neumeyer; Josilyn, Victoria and Finn Roberts. Siblings, Jim (Geri) Miller, Robert (Jan) Miller, JoAnn (Walt) Kroll, Lucille (Jim) Kennedy, Jenney Wendling, Dean (Deb) Miller, Carla Brown. Brother-in-law Frank Gross and Sisters-in-law Lois Miller and Martha Miller, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She had a special spot in her heart for Linda Anaman and Wilford and Bonnie Lacker, and many other loving friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, her parents, sisters Peggy Miller, Jean Gross, and Bonnie Petricevic, and brothers Lowell (Sonny) Miller, Richard (Dick) Miller, and Howard (Butch) Miller. Sister-in-law Joan Miller. Brothers-in-law Ken Meier, Floyd Brown, Mike Petricevic, and Mike Wendling.
We are grateful to staff of The Roosevelt House and The Care Team (Hospice) for their unwavering dedication to Joyce and for the many large and small acts of kindness they showed. Their care made her final days comfortable and peaceful.
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:6-8
