Joyce West, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. She was 82.
Born in Rochelle, Georgia, Joyce was the daughter of Willie McBryant and Vera Duke McBryant. A woman of immense courage and selflessness, Joyce dedicated her life to her family. She was a gifted chef, caterer, and restaurateur, and for many years, she was the heart and soul of J. West Restaurant, where she shared her passion for food and fellowship. Born a Southern Baptist, she lived her faith through her actions, caring for others with a gentle and generous spirit.
Joyce also had a special gift for bringing beauty into the world. An avid gardener, her yard was a true reflection of her spirit-always filled with vibrant flowers she tended with patience, joy, and love. Above all, Joyce was a devoted matriarch who loved her family immensely, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Benny Gene West.
Joyce's memory will be cherished by her children, Steve West and Scott West, both of Vienna, Georgia; Kyle West and his wife Katrina of Byromville, Georgia; and Monica Orecchio and her husband Joe of Odessa, Florida. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Her kindness, hospitality, and enduring love of family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
